- PowerBook G3/1999 Series ClockUp -
INTRODUCTION...
I analyzed how to increase the clock speed of a PowerBook G3/1999 Series.
This infomation is not confirmation of stability operation.
Please note that any modifications you make to your Macintosh are made at your own risk.
Open the PowerBook G3 Series...
1st, Remove the Battery from the Left Bays.
2nd, Unlock keyboard lock unit.
Remove the keyboard Assey.
Remove the Radiation Plate. (Three Plus screw).
Remove the System Module.
System Module is caught with two "Finger" of left side. Pull up the right side more carefully.
Remove the Memory Module (SO-DIMM) from the System Module.
Over clock the PowerBook G3/1999 Series...
System Module of the PowerBook G3/1999 Series resembles iMac's it.
Change PLL configure of the CPU.
CPU clock magnification is configured by 8-registers R126,R127,R128,R129,R130,R131,R132,R133 on the DOWN-SIDE.

Change BUS Clock Frequency...
BUS Clock Frequency is decided by MPC932 (Clock Driver) PLL Confugure
and MPC106 (Memory Control and PCI-BUS Bridge) PLL Configure.
MPC932 PLL is configured by 4-registers R7,R8,R9,R10 on the UP-SIDE.
MPC106 PLL is configured by 8-registers R39,R40,R43,R44,R49,R50,R51,R52 on the UP-SIDE.

The Benchmark Result...
PowerBook G3/400 (BUS:66MHz x6.0) changed to the PowerBook G3/466 (BUS:66MHz x7.0)
CPU performance is almost equal with PowerMacintosh G3/400.
Please mail to me your experiment result.
